07/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – “Adopting an ambitious (energy performance) of Buildings Directive is necessary to set the EU on the path to energy security and climate neutrality”, wrote 34 European business leaders in a joint letter to MEPs on Tuesday 6 December, while the European Parliament has yet to adopt its position on the issue. According to the signatories, this requires the definition of a robust regime of minimum energy performance standards including “clear timelines and benchmarks”, new instruments to mobilise funds, as well as the deployment of one-stop shops and information tools such as energy performance certificates and renovation passports. The vote in the Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) is scheduled for 24 January. For its part, the EU Council defined its position on 25 October (see EUROPE 13050/3, 13052/16). See the letter: https://aeur.eu/f/4il (DG)
