European Commission adopts Danish and Latvian national programmes implementing EMFAF 2021-2027

On Tuesday 6 December, the European Commission adopted the Danish and Latvian programmes implementing the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) covering the period 2021-2027.

The total financial envelope for the Danish 2021-2027 programme is €287 million, with an EU contribution of almost €201 million. Denmark has chosen to devote 86% of the programme’s allocation to sustainable fisheries and resource conservation. The remaining 8% will be invested in sustainable aquaculture, processing and marketing.

The total financial envelope of the Latvian programme for the period 2021-2027 is €192.7 million (EU budget contribution: €134.8 million).

The Commission has adopted the EMFAF programmes of 20 EU countries (https://aeur.eu/f/4je ). 

Market for fishery products. Elsewhere, the European Market Observatory for Fisheries and Aquaculture Products (EUMOFA) has published the EU Fish Market 2022 report, which analyses the global and European fishery and aquaculture market. The report shows that the year 2021 saw an overall growth in the total value of trade flows of fishery and aquaculture products in the EU.
