09/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – The EU Council Presidency is continuing its work on the Regulation on the prevention of child pornography online and on 26 October submitted new compromises on parts of the text to the Member States, which discussed them on 3 November. The proposals, as seen by EUROPE, confirm the creation of obligations for search engines to “delist websites indicating specific elements of child abuse”, obligations which had already been added in September (see EUROPE 13030/4). The term ‘online search engines’ is also added in the definitions of “relevant information society services”. Further clarifications are made with other European texts, such as the regulation on the removal of terrorist content. As the text is very complex and lengthy, according to one source, an agreement this year in the EU Council does not seem likely. (SP)
