EU Tax Observatory has developed an application to compare and analyse activities of multinationals

The EU Tax Observatory announced on Twitter on Friday 4 November the launch of its interactive application to compare and analyse the activities and payments of multinationals in different jurisdictions.

Using the Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR) database developed by the Observatory, this tool explores information from more than 100 multinationals from 2017 to 2021, relating to taxes and global economic activities.

This database represents a unique source of data compiled using web scraping techniques - the technique of extracting content from websites, via a script or program, in order to transform it for use in another context - on online reports published by multinationals, the application says.

The database will continue to be updated. The aim is to provide greater transparency in the world of corporate taxation, by showing how much multinationals earn and pay in taxes in the countries where they operate.
