19/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – Carol Valade and Clément di Roma won, on Wednesday 19 October, the 2022 edition of the Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize for Journalism with their documentary “Central African Republic: Russian soft power”. Broadcast on Arte and coupled with an article published in the newspaper Le Monde, their investigation highlights the strategies and means used by the Russian government to extend its influence on the African continent. The award ceremony was attended by the European Parliament President, Roberta Metsola, and Pina Picierno, Vice-President of the Parliament, as well as Anthony Bellanger, General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). Each year, the Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize honours an outstanding journalistic project that defends the fundamental principles of the EU, in memory of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, who was murdered on 16 October 2017.
