EU Member States to discuss interinstitutional agreement on standardisation regulation on 19 October

On Friday 14 October, the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU presented to the Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper I) the interinstitutional agreement reached with the European Parliament 2 days earlier on the regulation as regards the decisions of European standardisation organisations. No Member State has yet taken action.

As a reminder, the Council’s mandate has been amended only in the wording of recital 6, which now emphasises that national standards bodies of third countries should not hinder the work of European standardisation organisations when a European Commission proposal is only supported by the EU and European Economic Area Member States (see EUROPE 13041/6).

The debriefing of the working group will take place on 17 October and the analysis by the ambassadors is scheduled for the Coreper meeting on 19 October. To read the four-column document of the interinstitutional negotiations: https://aeur.eu/f/3mf (Original version in French by Pascal Hansens)
