14/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 11 October, the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union sent to the Member States a new draft of conclusions on the 27th United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP27) with the aim of adopting a text at the next meeting of the Member States’ Environment Ministers on Monday 24 October. Prague notes that some points in the text, notably that on nationally determined contributions (NDCs), continue to divide delegations. Several delegations would indeed like to strengthen the wording proposed by the Presidency. According to the latter, the EU Council “stands ready to update the NDC of the EU and its Member States as soon as possible, in line with the final outcome of the ‘Fit for 55’ package (the EU’s climate legislation package)”. COP27 will be held in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, from 6 to 18 November. See the draft conclusions: https://aeur.eu/f/3ma (DG)
