14/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission approved on Friday 14 October two new protected designations of origin (PDO): ‘Vézelay’ wine from France and ‘Garam Amed Bali/Bunga Garam Amed Bali’ salt from Indonesia. Vézelay is a dry still white wine, pale yellow-gold in colour, produced in the Yonne department in Burgundy. Garam Amed Bali refers to Amed (Bali) salt and Bunga Garam Amed Bali refers to Amed flower salt (hand-harvested sea salts, exclusively from the Amed region, obtained by extracting the salt minerals from sea water with clay soil). The new name Vézelay will be added to the list of 1,614 wine products already protected and ‘Garam Amed Bali/Bunga Garam Amed Bali’ salts will be added to the list of 194 non-EU agricultural products already protected.
