03/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Monday 3 October that further technical talks on the Northern Ireland Protocol would take place “this week”, with the EU still intending to be “constructive” in these talks. The announcement comes as Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič had his first meeting with his new British interlocutor, James Cleverly, on 1 October. “Good conversation with James Cleverly on Northern Ireland Protocol. Both sides agree to seek solutions around the Protocol to provide predictability and certainty for the people of Northern Ireland ,” the Vice President commented on Twitter. The two partners have not worked on the issue of the Protocol and its possible adjustments since February. (SP)
