03/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – The Austrian banking group, Raiffeisen Bank International AG (RBI), will join the Euro Interbank Offered Rate or ‘EURIBOR’ panel on Wednesday 2 November, the European Money Markets Institute (EMMI), administrator of EURIBOR, announced on Thursday 29 September. The European Securities and Markets Authority, ESMA, and Austria’s Financial Markets Authority, FMA, welcome the inclusion of the RBI in the panel. ESMA Chair Verena Ross said in a statement on Monday 3 October: “The enlargement of the EURIBOR panel will contribute to the robustness and reliability of EURIBOR by supporting its capacity to measure its underlying market”. The RBI becomes the first Austrian bank to integrate it and broadens the geographical basis for the calculation of EURIBOR. The EURIBOR is the interbank rate offered between banks of the best signatures for the remuneration of deposits in the euro area. (AD)
