18/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 18 July, the Council of the EU approved an agreement with the European Parliament on the Digital Markets Act (DMA). By way of reminder, the European Parliament and the Council of the EU reached a provisional political agreement on 24 March (see EUROPE 12919/12). This was approved by the European Parliament in plenary on 5 July (see EUROPE 12986/3). “With the final adoption of the Digital Markets Act, we will finally make big online platforms accountable for their actions. (...)Thanks to the DMA, we will ensure there is fair online competition, greater convenience for consumers and new opportunities for small businesses”, commented Czech Deputy Prime Minister for Digitisation, Ivan Bartoš.
