18/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 18 July, the Council of the EU adopted its position on draft amending budget No 2 to the general budget 2022 concerning the budgeting of the surplus resulting from the implementation of the budget year 2021 (see EUROPE 12931/11). The implementation of the 2021 financial year shows a surplus of €3.2 billion. The budgeting of this surplus will reduce the overall contribution of Member States to the financing of the EU budget in 2022. The text still needs to be adopted by the European Parliament during the plenary session from 12 to 15 September 2022. (LC)
