24/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 24 June, the European Commission launched the Alliance for Zero Emission Aviation to help prepare the industry for the introduction of electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft. This alliance is part of the ReFuelEU Aviation initiative (see EUROPE 12964/3), which aims to increase the demand and supply of sustainable fuels in the aviation sector. It will include representatives from aircraft manufacturers, airlines, airports, fuel suppliers, standards and certification agencies and regulators. “Climate neutrality is the passport to growth, and the Alliance for Zero Emission Aviation will help the European aviation industry pave the way for competitive and clean aviation”, said Executive Vice-President for the Digital Age, Margrethe Vestager.
