European Commission endorses €42.8 million Czech programme under EMFAF

On Friday 24 June the European Commission adopted the Czech programme implementing the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) for the period 2021-2027.

This is the first programme adopted by the Commission for the period 2021-2027.

The EU contribution to the Czech Programme for Fisheries and Aquaculture 2021-2027 is €30 million and, together with national funding, its total financial allocation is €42.8 million. The Fund will help the Czech Republic to promote sustainable aquaculture and fish processing activities, the conservation of aquatic resources and food security.

The programme will help strengthen the aquaculture and fish processing sector, improve market organisation and increase the profitability and sustainability of the whole market chain, while contributing to enforcement obligations to ensure better traceability of fish products.

Approximately 21 innovation projects are to be carried out during the period, enabling the transfer of knowledge, innovations and technologies to the aquaculture and processing sectors.

45% of the EMFAF allocation to the Czech Republic will be devoted to promoting innovative investments and reducing the impacts of climate change while promoting environmental protection and biodiversity conservation. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
