A new advisory group launched by the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom on Wednesday, 25 May, is expected to reinforce efforts to punish those responsible for heinous crimes in Ukraine. In particular, it will support the prosecutor general of Ukraine in investigating war crimes by providing operational support.
For instance, the advisory group will bring together multinational experts who will be able to provide strategic advice and operational assistance in evidence gathering, analyses, investigations, etc. It will also ensure communication among the various authorities to avoid duplication [of efforts] and encourage the deployment of financial resources and personnel to meet the needs of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
On the EU side of things, the European External Action Service (EEAS)—alongside the European Commission and the EU Advisory Mission Ukraine (EUAM)—will coordinate this advisory group. (Original version in French by Léa Marchal)
