25/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 24 May, the European Commission opened a comment period for its draft act on the availability of public data sets. In concrete terms, the Commission’s initiative aims to define a list of ‘high-value’ data sets held by the public service, the re-use of which could have significant benefits for society and the economy. These packages, the Commission argues, should be re-usable for free, using application programming interfaces, available in machine-readable format and downloadable in bulk, “where possible”. With this future regulation, the Commission is seeking to encourage the development of new information products and innovation, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence. This consultation will end on 21 June. See the consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/1tf (TM)
