25/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Wednesday 25 May that it had signed an association agreement on the Faroe Islands’ participation in Horizon Europe, the EU’s 2021-2027 framework programme for research. As a result, Faroese researchers and innovators will now be able to participate in this €95.5 billion programme on an equal footing with EU Member States and entities. EU-Faroese research and innovation collaboration dates back to 2010, when the Faroe Islands first joined the EU’s 7th Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. “I wish all the Faroese participants success in the different parts of Horizon Europe,” said the Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel.
