03/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 3 May, World Press Freedom Day, the European Parliament officially launched its call for entries for the second Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize for Journalism. The €20,000 prize rewards “outstanding journalism that promotes or defends the core principles and values of the European Union”, the European Parliament said in a statement. The award is open to professional journalists and teams of journalists of all nationalities who are able to submit in-depth articles published or broadcast by media based in any EU Member State. The winner will be chosen by an independent jury composed of representatives of the press and civil society and will be awarded in mid-October, around the anniversary of Ms Caruana Galizia’s assassination on 16 October.
