03/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 3 May, the European Commission approved an €18 million Spanish scheme to support fishing vessel companies in the context of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The measure has been validated under the State Aid Temporary Crisis Framework, adopted by the Commission on 23 March 2022. Under the scheme, the Spanish aid will take the form of direct grants. The aim is to provide liquidity support to fishing vessel companies affected by the current crisis. The Commission found the Spanish scheme to be in line with the conditions set out in the Temporary Crisis Framework: the aid will not exceed €35,000 per beneficiary and will be granted no later than 31 December 2022.
