03/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is expected to present the 6th package of restrictive measures against Russia on Wednesday 4 May in a debate in the European Parliament on the ‘The social and economic consequences for the EU of the Russian war in Ukraine - reinforcing the EU’s capacity to act’. “We are working on the 6th sanctions package, which aims to exclude more banks from SWIFT, sanction those involved in disinformation and tackle oil imports”, announced EU High Representative Josep Borrell. The proposals were due to be sent to Member States late on Tuesday 3 May so that their ambassadors to the EU could discuss them on Wednesday morning. They are expected to discuss this again on Thursday at the end of the day. (CG and MB)
