06/04/2022 (Agence Europe) – The General Court of the European Union on Wednesday 6 April annulled the 2018, 2019 and 2020 EU Council decisions extending the inclusion of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s family - his wife, two sons and their wives - on the EU’s list of persons sanctioned with an asset freeze and a territorial ban (joined cases T-335, 338/18 and T-327/19) (see EUROPE 12219/26). According to the General Court, the EU Council did not sufficiently verify that the measures taken by Egypt against the applicants respected the rights of defence and the right to effective judicial protection.
