06/04/2022 (Agence Europe) – Eurospace published a document on Tuesday 5 April in which the organisation considers that the proposals of the European Commission and the European External Action Service (EEAS) (see EUROPE 12891/4) are “ambitious”, but that the timetable is “possibly too lengthy” in view of the urgency. Indeed, according to Eurospace, other countries are moving faster and are creating their own architectures and reference standards that jeopardise the competitiveness of the European space industry. In the short term, the EU should seek to adopt pragmatic STM measures quickly, focusing on the use of existing institutional and industrial SSA assets, while retaining its longer-term goal of a truly harmonised set of STM regulations with “adequate” budget lines.
