16/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 16 February, AeroSpace Defence Industries (ASD) called for the rapid implementation of the EU-UK cooperation agreement under the ‘Horizon Europe’ programme. In the opinion of ASD, the “current impasse” prevents cooperation in the ‘Clean Aviation’ joint undertaking, which is intended to contribute to the development of sustainable aviation technologies, and the ‘SESAR’ joint undertaking, which aims to modernise the air traffic management system in Europe. “These are key elements in achieving the objectives of the Green Deal. Turning ‘Horizon Europe’, ‘Clean Aviation’ and ‘SESAR’ into mere bargaining chips for political reasons has a negative impact on the EU and UK aviation industries and runs counter to the EU’s climate neutrality objectives”, said ASD Secretary General Jan Pie.
