01/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – The airlines Air France-KLM, easyJet, Ryanair and DPDHL joined several NGOs, including Transport & Environment (T&E), on Tuesday 1 February to call on European legislators to strengthen certain aspects relating to the progressive incorporation of alternative fuels for the aviation sector (ReFuelEU Aviation) (see EUROPE 12878/17). They welcome the European Commission’s proposal, but particularly want to see the deadline for e-kerosene targets brought forward. They are also calling for the creation of a European industrial alliance for sustainable aviation fuel. “Europe urgently needs to ensure secure investment in the most sustainable aviation fuels, while avoiding the risk of locking in fuels that do not feature in our zero-emissions future”, said Pete Harrison, the executive director in charge of European policy for the European Climate Foundation.
