On Thursday 18 November, Fabio Panetta, a European Central Bank (ECB) Executive Board member who is in charge of the digital euro project, detailed the issues surrounding the creation of a digital central bank currency by 2026, in a meeting of the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (see EUROPE B12762A17).
