18/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 18 November, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) and Transport & Environment (T&E ) highlighted the importance of revising the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) (see EUROPE 12829/7) in the context of deploying charging points for electric vehicles. The two bodies called for the revision of the directive to be based on six pillars in a joint letter addressed to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Vice-President Frans Timmermans, and Commissioners Kadri Simson and Adina Vălean, who are responsible for Energy and Transport respectively. ACEA and T&E insist, among other things, that residential and non-residential buildings should be prepared for electric vehicles and are calling for financial support.
