18/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – Despite the worsening health situation, an informal meeting of European Parliament group chairmen on Thursday 18 November agreed that there was no reason to question the holding of plenary sessions in Strasbourg, France, just yet. Next week’s plenary session will therefore be held in the Alsatian capital. The addition of an extra space for voting is reportedly under discussion. On the other hand, a return to hybrid work would again be considered for parliamentary committees. The President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli (S&D, Italy), received a letter signed by nearly 180 MEPs calling for a return to a remote plenary session “immediately”. Many of the signatories, nearly 100, are said to be from the EPP group. (PH and MB)
