18/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 18 November, the European Commission updated the composition of the regional risk groups related to the security of gas supply on the EU market so as to “take into account the expected impact of new and upcoming gas infrastructures on the gas flows within the relevant emergency gas corridors”. This was one of the measures that the institution announced on 13 October as part of its “toolbox” to combat the rise in energy prices (see EUROPE 12811/1). As a platform for strengthening regional cooperation, these groups aim to increase the resilience of the EU gas market. They will be responsible for analysing gas supply risks for the next four years and will advise EU countries and the European Commission on the measures to take in order to manage these risks properly.
