On Thursday 18 November, the European Commission published an implementing regulation imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of certain optical fibre cables from China. Specifically, this concerns single mode optical fibre cables, consisting of one or more individually sheathed fibres with protective casing containing electric conductors.
The Commission had opened an investigation in September 2020, after receiving a complaint from Europacable on behalf of Union producers. The complainant considered that Chinese imports of this product were causing injury to the European industry. According to the Commission, the imposition of definitive measures is considered necessary to prevent further injury.
The duties introduced range from 19.7% to 44%.
