12/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – The College of Commissioners will discuss on Wednesday 13 October the European Commission’s proposal for a decision to make 2022 the European Year of Youth (see EUROPE 12791/9). The adoption of the text, on the other hand, will only take place the following day, by written procedure, a spokesperson for the institution confirmed to EUROPE. The Commission expects the first activities related to this new European Year to start as early as next January and therefore hopes that the text will be discussed and approved by the co-legislators as soon as possible. The European Parliament, for its part, has already expressed its readiness to work quickly on this initiative (see EUROPE 12809/18). The Commission is therefore expected to communicate in more detail on this subject on Thursday 14 October. It will also launch the fifth edition of Erasmus Days today and is expected to publish a report on the European Youth Strategy 2019-2027. (AC)
