12/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – Member States are unsurprisingly maintaining their positions on space traffic management as reported in our September newsletter (see EUROPE 12789/8), according to a document consulted by EUROPE that was due to be discussed in a working group today, Tuesday 12 October. Space Traffic Management thus remains first and foremost a national prerogative. The EU is given a coordinating role and a non-binding normative role, as well as the task of conducting soft diplomacy on the international scene in this area. The SST consortium remains the cornerstone of European action in the field of space traffic management.
