31/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – Asked about the delays in the delivery of the Johnson&Johnson Covid-19 vaccine in some Member States, the European Commission said on Monday 31 May that this was a “temporary reduction”. The institution still expects to deliver the agreed number of doses in the second and third quarters of 2021, said its health spokesman Stefan De Keersmaecker. “We expect to see an increase in the delivery of doses soon”, he also said. The spokesperson also said that the subject had been discussed in the steering board, which brings together the Commission and Member State representatives. The latter have expressed their concern to the EU institution, De Keersmaecker said, adding that the Commission is in contact with the pharmaceutical companies and continuing to monitor the progress of deliveries.
