The European Commission opened a public consultation on Tuesday 23 March on the EU’s new anti-coercion instrument.
Companies, organisations and citizens will have until 15 June to contribute to this tool which, according to the Commission, will make it possible to discourage and counter coercive practices by third countries. The legislative proposal should be published before the end of the year.
“We strongly encourage stakeholders, in the EU and outside, to share their views on coercive practices and how best to tackle them”, said Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis.
The consultation concerns both the reasons for triggering the anti-coercion instrument and the measures allowed by the tool, as well as the impact of these latter.
