23/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – In a virtual meeting on Monday 22 March, EU Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis and US Trade Representative Katherine Tai reiterated their commitment to strengthening trade ties between the two parties. They both reaffirmed their commitment to resolving outstanding disputes, including the Airbus/Boeing dispute, about which the EU and the US must reach an agreement in the coming months (see EUROPE 12672/1). Resolving the steel and aluminium tariff dispute is also on their agenda. The two representatives expressed their shared willingness to work together on reform of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Finally, tackling climate change and forced labour were also identified as issues on which Valdis Dombrovskis and Katherine Tai would like to focus. (LM)
