23/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 23 March, the European Commission approved €146.5 million of Austrian State Aid for three companies joining the Important Project of Common European Interest (‘IPCEI’) in the field of microelectronics. This public financing is expected to allow an additional €530 million in private investment to be disbursed. In December 2018, the Commission had authorised an IPCEI to support research and innovation in the field of microelectronics. The project was jointly developed and notified by France, Germany, Italy and the UK. The approved public aid amounted to €1.75 billion. In December 2020, Austria notified its intention to join this IPCEI with public support of €146.5 million to three companies (Infineon Austria, AT&S Austria and NXP Semiconductors Austria). (LC)
