03/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European External Action Service revealed as part of the strategic reviews of the EUBAM Rafah and EUPOL COPPS missions (see EUROPE 12669/18) that 121 EU-funded structures had been demolished in the West Bank in 2020, to the amount of 302,000 euros (compared to 93 in 2019). “Demolitions and evictions in the West Bank also increased with 2020 marking a four year high in such incidents both in East Jerusalem and in Area C according to UN figures”, says the document obtained by EUROPE (see EUROPE 12479/25). According to this document, a total of 849 Palestinian structures were demolished and 996 people were displaced in 2020. This makes it the second highest number of structures to be demolished after 2016, since OCHA began systematically documenting this practice in 2009. (CG)
