03/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The think tank Farm Europe says it finds the promotion policy 2021 planned by the European Commission to be unbalanced. In a press release published on Tuesday 2 March, Farm Europe says it comes as “a surprise” that the Commission intends to set aside a significant part of the available funds to promote mainly organic products. The Commission has indicated that 50% of the funds would be reserved to contributing to the objectives of the Farm-to-Fork strategy, promoting organic products first and foremost. Farm Europe sees two fundamental problems in this approach: - what is the justification to treble its share in the promotion programme to the detriment of the majority of farmers; - the Commission “imposes its proposals” (European Green Deal, Farm-to-Fork) before they are endorsed by the co-legislators (see EUROPE 12665/8).
