03/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, emphasised in a telephone conversation on Wednesday 3 March with the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ara Aivazian, that “all actors must resolve their political differences peacefully and through dialogue, as well as in strict adherence with the principles and processes of parliamentary democracy”. The country has been facing a political crisis since its defeat in Nagorno-Karabakh in the autumn of 2020. The High Representative also noted the EU’s support for Armenia’s reform process and stressed that the entry into force of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement on 1 March was both an important and positive step for bilateral relations (see EUROPE 12668/28).
