03/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The head of the Frontex agency, Fabrice Leggeri, will be heard this Thursday 4 March by the MEPs who are members of the Frontex Scrutiny Working Group, the European Parliament announced in a press release. Commissioner Ylva Johansson will also be heard. On 5 March, a new Management Board of the Agency will take place and will have to discuss the latest assessments on the accusations of migrant pushbacks and the hiring of fundamental rights staff. According to Le Monde, which has had access to the report that will be debated on 5 March by the Management Board, it is still impossible to prove the pushbacks and the last open incidents have yet to be closed. The document does not provide “any decisive conclusions” on the role of Frontex agents, but seems to implicate Greek and Turkish coastguards, according to the daily paper. (SP)
