30/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European External Action Service (EEAS) announced on Monday 30 November that a further meeting of the Joint Commission on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is to be held in Vienna on 16 December. The meeting, chaired by EEAS Secretary General Helga Schmid, will bring together representatives from the E3+2 countries (Germany, France, the UK and China, Russia) and Iran. It will provide an opportunity to discuss ongoing work to preserve the Iranian nuclear agreement and how to ensure the full and effective implementation of the agreement by all parties, including in preparation for exchanges at ministerial level, according to the EEAS. This meeting will be the first since the election of Joe Biden, who had announced during the campaign that his country would return to the agreement if Iran respected its commitments, and that he would break with Donald Trump’s policy of maximum pressure.
