14/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – MEP Ignazio Corrao (M5S, Italy) questioned the need to hold the next plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg as the Covid-19 pandemic picks up steam again, in an email copied to EUROPE on Wednesday 14 October and addressed to Parliament's President David Sassoli. “Taking into account the rise of infections in the European Parliament, in European institutions, in Brussels, and considering that the situation in France is even worse; how is it that the rational decision to move the Strasbourg session to Brussels hasn't been made?” he asks. He requested that Mr Sassoli, who had been released from quarantine on Wednesday, specify the health and financial measures that would be taken if staff members fell ill while travelling and on site. The decision on the location of the plenary session is expected on Thursday 15 October. (MB)
