14/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Greens/EFA group announced on Wednesday 14 October that, in a group meeting that had taken place that morning, it elected German MEP Anna Cavazzini to take over the chair of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO), which was left vacant following the departure of Belgium’s Petra de Sutter to take up a ministerial post in the new Belgian government (see EUROPE 12572/37). We are told that Cavazzini was the only candidate to run for the post. She is in her first term as an MEP, and is currently a full member of the Committee on International Trade (INTA), an alternate member of the IMCO Committee and Vice-Chair of the Delegation for Relations with Brazil. The committee vote is scheduled for 26 October. None of the other political groups is expected to put forward a rival candidate. (PH)
