14/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 14 October, the European Commission published its country-by-country assessment of the 27 National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs). On 17 September, the institution had already submitted a collective assessment of all 27 plans. While the Commission considered the plans to be significantly more ambitious than their draft versions (see EUROPE 12563/16), it nevertheless deems them insufficient to reduce the EU's greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 (see EUROPE 12562/2). It should be noted that the Commission has also published its 2020 State of the Energy Union Report. EUROPE will continue to follow this story.
