12/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – European SME confidence is at an all-time low of 54.6 percentage points, down 18.8 points from the previous period (73.4), according to the latest EU SME Barometer, published by SMEunited on Monday 12 October. This level is even 0.5 points below the historic low point of the 2009 financial crisis. According to SMEunited, this dizzying drop in SME morale is clearly due to the effects of the Covid-19 crisis on the European economy. The result is strongly linked to the impossibility of predicting the end of the health crisis. The fear of possible new waves and the resulting restrictive measures has an impact on demand that is affecting the activities and expectations of SMEs, according to SMEunited.
