22/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission told the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties (LIBE) on Monday 21 September that the EU27 had transposed the European PNR Directive requiring airlines to collect passenger data for flights to or from the European Union in order to combat terrorism or serious crime. Spain was actually the last country to notify that they had transposed the directive on 21 September, the European Commission said. The deadline for transposition was May 2018. The European Commission is satisfied with the implementation of this text and does not consider it necessary to extend it to intra-European flights at this stage. Member States have, on their own initiative, started to collect data for these intra-EU flights. (SP)
