22/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Labour Authority announced, on Monday 21 September, that for the first time ever it has supported a concerted inspection investigating construction companies in Belgium, Lithuania and Portugal. Inspectors tested common tools and procedures developed with the European Labour Authority, ushering in a “historic” new phase in the fight against undeclared work, said the new EU agency, set up in 2019 (see EUROPE 12308/11). According to 2017 data, the construction sector accounts for almost 20% of all undeclared work in the EU. Today’s inspection also marks the start of the action week of the EU4FairWork campaign. (PH)
