The European Commission, trade unions, chambers of commerce and European employers’ organisations joined forces on 7 September in a joint declaration aimed at improving the integration of migrants and refugees in the employment market, said Adalbert Jahnz, spokesperson for Home Affairs.
This joint statement — jointly issued by the Commissioners for Home Affairs and Social Affairs, Ylva Johansson and Nicolas Schmit, and by representatives of SMEUnited, the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), BusinessEurope, Eurochambres and the European Centre of Employers and Enterprises Providing Public and Private Services (CEEP), reiterates “the importance of a multi-stakeholder approach for promoting early integration into the employment market, which is beneficial for both refugees, as well as for the economy and society at large”, said the statement.
The declaration forms part of the European Partnership for Integration, which was launched three years ago and which has already funded various projects on work integration.
