30/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – The deadline for transposing the new Posted Workers Directive (see EUROPE 11985/22) was reached on Thursday 30 July. The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) welcomed the date, which marks a financial improvement for almost “2 million workers” thanks to the implementation of the principle of “same pay for same work in same place”. “It comes into force at a crucial time. The Covid-19 outbreak has aggravated the precarious situation of many posted workers in Europe”, pointed out ETUC Confederal Secretary Per Hilmersson. The trade union organisation is now calling for a rapid agreement on the regulation on the coordination of social security systems, the negotiations on which have stalled (see EUROPE 12507/22). (PH)
