30/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU extended for one year, on Thursday 30 July, its autonomous sanctions against 57 individuals and 9 entities deemed responsible for contributing to North Korea’s nuclear-related, ballistic missile-related or other weapons of mass destruction-related programmes or for circumventing the sanctions. These persons are banned from entering the EU and, like the entities, are subject to an asset freeze. The EU’s regime of autonomous restrictive measures complements UN sanctions against the 80 individuals and 75 entities. The legal acts related to the EU Council decision will be published in the Official Journal of the EU on Friday 31 July. (CG)
