15/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission adopted on Wednesday 15 July an implementing act to facilitate the interoperability of mobile contact tracing apps. This technical document follows up on previous interoperability initiatives, both political, with the EU toolbox (see EUROPE 12468/5), and technical, with the Commission Guidelines of last May (see EUROPE 12486/8) and the Technical Specifications from June. (see EUROPE 12507/14). The document sets out how data will be processed using the Interoperability Gateway, an interface that will allow the exchange of information from decentralised national applications, and establishes a legal basis for this, we were told. At the time this edition went to press, the document was not yet available to the public. (SPj)
